This
portion of the web site has been requested by ex crew
members of HMS Eagle who feel that they need to establish
if they have the right to Pension Cover. If
you served in the Armed Forces and do not currently
qualify for a Forces Pension It is believed that a
pension may be a possibility because of the following:-
- Civil
Servants have a first class Index Linked Pension.
- Whilst
serving in the RN passports gave the profession as
Civil Servants.
- No
pension scheme (not even a 'PRIVATE Pension') was made
available to us into which we could contribute whilst
serving in the R.N.
- Although
it would have been unwise to do so, for a number of
years there has been an option for a member of HM Forces
to opt-out of their Services Pension Scheme, into a
PRIVATE Pension Scheme.
- For
a VERY LARGE portion of our working lives, (always,
from a very young age) we had been unable to contribute
to ANY TYPE of pension, therefore making it unlikely
for anyone to receive the maximum of 2/3rds salary
at retirement.
